On March 7, 2009, three bleary eyed but excited photographers set out at around 4 in the morning. They drove up the coast, eating, talking, laughing, and of course, taking pictures. These are my results from those 19 hours of driving and shooting, finally edited after months of sitting on my computer.
Here are a few pictures that I’ve taken at family gatherings over the past couple of years. Enjoy!
…I used to play a game called Clue. I had an elaborate way of marking down who asked about who, with what weapon, in what room, so I could tell how they were narrowing down what they didn’t know. My paper was always covered in elaborate symbols that represented questions at various times in the game, I basically had a record of the entire game up until the point that it ended. And I always lost. That’s not really that important though…
The important part is that I really loved the game, and I’ve had this idea rolling around in my head for a photo shoot inspired by that game. The idea’s been there for a couple of years, but it wasn’t until I teamed up with Kiki and Katie that there was really an actual chance that the shoot would happen. Through their costumes, makeup, and hair genius, this idea finally became more than an idea. Here is our take on the characters of Clue (which is, btw, copyright Hasbro).
Hair and makeup by Katie Gilfoy, costumes by Kiki Kornblatt, Katie Gilfoy, and Steven Hasegawa (that’s me). Photography by Kiki Kornblatt and Steven Hasegawa. Special thanks to all the models: Ben, Trevor, Kiki, Tommy, Katie, Bailey.
