Hoverboard

21 Oct, 2015  |  10:13AM

To celebrate a day that we thought we would get actual hoverboards, I created a virtual hoverboard in C4D. I decided to go for a technical line drawing feel. Still have a few more things to iron out, but it looks okay from this angle!

Instagram

21 Jan, 2015  |  9:44AM

I finally started an Instagram last year. Here’s a sampling of things that catch my eye, combined with illustrations that I make. I stick mostly to iPhone photos, but there’s a few DSLR shots mixed into my feed. If you like random things, weird illustrations, stupid hashtags, and just keeping up with my life in general, feel free to follow me. If not, then you probably shouldn’t.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

05 Aug, 2014  |  9:35AM

This movie has one of my favorite scenes ever in a movie. I’ve never watched a scene that was paced so slowly, that was so intense. I made an illustration using DMesh, Illustrator, and Photoshop. I wish I could find the designer that made that type lockup to give them credit, but I just updated the typeface and added some texture to it.

New!

This month was a lot of new things for me. A new job, a new phone number (for the first time since high school), and a new car (not just new to me)! Everything has been exciting with a touch of sadness too.

I’m blown away by the new job opportunity, but also a little bummed to be moving on from LEVEL. I learned and grew so much in the last six years. I can’t believe I got such a great job straight out of college, and then was placed on such an esteemed account. I worked with so many awesome people on a variety of challenging projects, and I was given so many opportunities that I never could have imagined getting. There’s been a lot of change in my life recently, which has been hard, but ultimately very good. I’m excited to see what develops in life next.

Subaru BRZ

Life has been: Crazy, good, creative, unpredictable, exciting. I haven’t posted in a while, so I whipped up a Subaru BRZ illustration. Still experimenting with this two stroke weight style, trying to figure out how much detail to put in/leave out.

Everything’s Coming Up Milhouse!

26 Feb, 2014  |  7:21PM

I learned a couple things making this. 1) ‘Milhouse’ only has one ‘l.’ 2) 8-bit is fun but challenging. 3) I need to make the character a little bigger next time.

What I already knew that was part of the challenge, is that every pixel matters. I’m excited for the next project, whatever that may be!

I Want to Go to There

And now, for my first post for the new year on the new blog on the new site, I present you with some topographic Hawaii-ness. As the title of this post suggests, I would like to be there right now, or soon.hawaii

Little soot sprites!

Ever since my brother had me watch Princess Mononoke, I’ve loved watching Hayao Miyazaki’s work. Earlier this year, he announced that he’s retiring, leaving behind a legacy of incredible art, animation, and storytelling.  This is my simple tribute.
